MPLA party to submit to parliament tasks for municipal elections

Luanda, ANGOLA, February 18 - The ruling MPLA party this year will submit to the Parliament, through its parliamentary group, a set of tasks considered essential for holding municipal elections. ,

 

The intention is part of the ruling party’s political agenda for 2018, presented last Saturday, to the organisation’s supporters in Luanda, in a ceremony led by the MPLA first secretary for Luanda, Adriano Mendes de Carvalho.

 

According to the secretary of the MPLA Poliburo for Electoral and Political Affairs, João de Almeida Martins, the party will also evaluate, based on the data of the diagnosis made, the municipalities with better conditions for the implementation of local governments, respecting the constitutional principles of gradualism and transience.

 

In this regard, he said that the political organisation also intends to promote the territorial delimitation process, correctly defining the territorial boundaries of each autonomous area, based on the correct and rigorous application of the laws, as well as promoting the discussion and adaptation of the legislation of support for holding local elections.

 

 João Martins de Almeida said that another of the measures will be to reinforce the work of training and political-ideological training of militants, cadres and leaders at all levels, to stimulate and support the successful implementation of a strategic plan for identification, selection and technical-scientific training and appointment of staff for future municipal bodies.
