KRCR/KAEF Reporter Adelmi Ruiz was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol.

She was taken into custody early Thursday at about 3:10 a.m. in Eureka by the California Highway Patrol.

Ruiz was booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility and released hours later on her own recognizance, pending a court date later in the month.

The arrest came just two days after being detained and released following a protest at Cal Poly Humboldt in Arcata.

The pro-Palestinian protest went on for a week before a large law enforcement sweep removed protesters who were illegally occupying campus.

Ruiz's detainment was captured on a Facebook Live that later went viral and made national headlines.

Ruiz is currently on leave from KAEF-TV.
