On Friday, April 13 around 6 p.m., Deputy Michelle Kent responded to a burglary complaint on KY 810 North. Her investigation revealed that sometime in the past few months, unknown person(s) forcibly entered a garage and stole approximately $8,500.00 worth of items including tools, Matchbox collectible cars, and a Harley Davidson golf cart. If anyone has information concerning this crime, they are asked to contact Deputy Michelle Kent at the Sheriff’s Office (270-388-2311).

On Thursday, April 18 around 6 p.m., Deputy Michelle Kent responded to a two-vehicle minor injury collision on Jack Thomason Road. Her investigation revealed a 2002 Dodge Ram pickup truck, driven by David Kraft (17) of Kuttawa, was Westbound on Jack Thomason Road when his vehicle dropped a wheel off the shoulder resulting in Kraft overcorrecting before going up an embankment and overturning in the roadway. During the overturning event, the Dodge collided with an Eastbound 2011 BMW driven by Jennifer Whittington (51) of Kuttawa. A passenger in the Whittington vehicle was transported by private vehicle to the Caldwell Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.

On Friday, April 19 around 7 a.m., Sheriff Brent White observed a 2018 Ford F150 King Ranch pickup truck driving carelessly on US 641. After the sheriff’s vehicle pulled behind the truck on US 641, the driver of the pickup abruptly turned off the roadway at a closed business. Further investigation led to Sheriff White detaining the driver and passenger of the pickup truck. The driver was identified as Jacob R. Walker (33) of Marion. His passenger was later identified as Mika R. Kitrel (35) of Metropolis, IL, after she first provided the name of another person of whom she had stolen the identity of.

Further investigation revealed the truck in which the two occupied had been stolen overnight from the Marion-Crittenden County Airport in what would later be revealed during the course of six (6) or more burglaries of various buildings in Crittenden County where over $50,000 in property was reported stolen.

Walker was arrested in Lyon County for criminal trespassing, drug paraphernalia, possession of fentanyl, and receiving stolen property over $10,000-auto. He faces additional burglary and theft charges in Crittenden County. That case is being investigated by the Crittenden County Sheriff’s Office.

Kitrel was charged with criminal trespassing, possession of controlled substance-1st degree (methamphetamine), possession of controlled substance-3rd degree, possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia possession, receiving stolen property over $10,000-auto, and theft of identity of another without consent. Both Kitrel and Walker were lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center. The Marion Police Department assisted both agencies and also charged Kitrel with five Kentucky arrest warrants and one Illinois arrest warrant.

On Friday, April 19 around 3:30 p.m., Sheriff Brent White investigated a minor two-vehicle collision in Eddyville off Commerce Street. His investigation revealed a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Ella Moss (75) of Eddyville backed into a parked and unoccupied 2021 Chevrolet Traverse. No injuries were reported in the collision.

On Saturday, April 20 around 3 p.m., Sheriff’s deputies arrested fugitive Gregory S. Munsell (30) of Princeton while he was in a Kuttawa business. Munsell escaped from the Caldwell County Jail while waiting to be processed on April 12, 2024. He was later tracked to McCracken County where he stands accused of stealing a 2009 Dodge pickup on April 16, 2024. He was the subject of a manhunt in McCracken County but continued to evade law enforcement.

On April 19 after 10 p.m., Munsell committed a burglary of the Molloy’s Korner convenience store in Southern Lyon County before fleeing the scene and later driving to Crittenden County where he committed a burglary of an automobile dealership on US 60 West of Marion around 4:25am on April 20, 2024. Munsell was tracked by authorities into Caldwell County and later to Lyon County where he was apprehended at a Kuttawa business without further incident. At the time of his arrest, Munsell was in possession of the stolen Dodge pickup truck from McCracken County.

Munsell was charged by Chief Deputy Sam Adams with burglary-3rd degree and criminal mischief-1st Degree relating to the Molloy’s Korner incident. Munsell was charged by Deputy Josh Travis with felony receiving stolen property-auto. In addition, he was charged on arrest warrants with the following: escape-2nd degree (Princeton Police Department), TBUT-Auto (McCracken County Sheriff’s Office), and parole violation (KY Probation & Parole). He was lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center.

The Crittenden County Sheriff’s Office and Marion Police Department assisted the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office with this investigation. Charges are pending by the Crittenden County Sheriff’s Office for the burglary in their jurisdiction.

On Saturday, April 20 around 2 p.m., Deputy Michelle Kent responded to a hit and run collision in Kuttawa on Lake Drive. The investigation revealed an unidentified vehicle was pulling out of Lake Drive onto Lake Barkley Drive when it clipped the rear bumper of a 2017 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck driven by Jason Hayes (45) of Paducah. No injuries were reported. The driver of the other vehicle stopped and told Hayes he would return shortly; however, he fled and never returned to the scene nor provided the other driver with his identity and vehicle insurance. If anyone has information concerning this incident, they are asked to call the sheriff’s office at 270-388-2311.

On Sunday, April 21 around 3 p.m., Kentucky State Police (KSP), Post 1 apprehended an attempted murder suspect from Indiana after a weekend long surveillance detail.

On Friday, April 19, the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office notified KSP of information they received from the Lake County (IN) Sheriff’s Office who was assisting the Lake Station (IN) Police Department with an attempted murder investigation. The information received indicated that the juvenile suspect had traveled to a relative’s house in the Eddy Creek area of Lyon County days earlier. Sheriff Brent White confirmed the juvenile was with the relative in Eddyville during the previous 48 hours.

KSP Post 1 troopers and detectives conducted surveillance through the weekend at the property the suspect was believed to be at. The suspect was observed on the property around 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 21 and taken into custody without further incident. The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office and KSP Troopers executed a search warrant at the property following the detainment of the juvenile offender.

The juvenile offender suspect is a 16-year-old male who stands accused of shooting two adults in Lake Station, IN. The attempted murder investigation is being conducted by the Lake Station (IN) Police Department.
